Meet The Interviewees

Madelyn Moses

Madelyn grew up in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Raised in a Christian home, the Lord graciously saved her at a young age and has continually grown in her a love for Him, the Word, and the church. She earned her B.S. in Bible and Office Administration with a

Counseling Minor from Clarks Summit University in 2017. She then spent five years in California where she worked at The Master’s University in various administrative roles in the Student Life, Development, and Health departments. While working there, she also earned her M.A. in Biblical Studies. She moved back to Pennsylvania in Summer 2022 and has enjoyed using what the Lord has taught her to serve the body of Christ in various capacities on the East Coast.

Fun Fact: Madelyn developed a love for studying the U.S. presidents in elementary school and can tell you all their names in order and knows lots of random facts like which president served a block of cheese weighing over a ton in the White House.

Rebecca Finster

Rebecca Finster

Becca always tells people she grew up all over the place, which includes the West Coast, Gulf Coast, and several places in between. It was one of those moves that revealed she was not placing trust in Christ even though she grew up in a pastor’s home with the ministry, church,

and the gospel being the air they breathed. It was her seventh-grade summer when God graciously opened her eyes to her sinfulness and His holiness, and the sufficient death, resurrection, and ascension of Christ. She placed her trust, hope, and faith there and only there. She adored studying in the biblical studies department at The Master’s University, and she loves continuing to study at Shepherds Theological Seminary! It’s a privilege for her to take those studies into the church where she comes alongside the pastors and church leaders of Cornerstone Bible Church in her job as administrative director to help facilitate and serve their ministries.

Fun Fact: Becca loves to travel to foreign countries, and even lived 15 minutes from Jerusalem for a few months while studying abroad!

Steve Sherman

Steve Sherman

God blessed Steve with Christian parents.  He grew up in Southern California, learning God's Word in the home and at church.  By God's grace, at a young age he was convicted of his sin and professed faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  He went to college to study

computer science.  However, the Lord changed his direction when He led him into youth ministry and then called him to be a pastor.  He and his wife, Esther were married in 1999.  He graduated from The Master's Seminary with an M.Div. in 2005, and ever since he has had the privilege of serving as the pastor of Christian Fellowship Church, now in East Brunswick, NJ.  The Lord has blessed them with nine children.

Fun Fact: Steve's favorite place is Yosemite National Park.

Esther Sherman

Esther Sherman

Esther enjoyed growing up in Southern California. Her father was the solo pastor of a small church during her elementary years. He then supported several pastors and churches through her middle and high school years.  They visited many small rural churches throughout San Diego

County.  During her elementary years, she professed faith in Jesus Christ but she did not fully understand what it meant. Through a camp counselor, she was challenged to learn more about God's Word and what it meant to be a Christian. During her middle and high school years, her desire for the Word and serving the Lord grew strong. She attended a Christian university in California to study math education. She and Steve were married after her junior year. She taught high school math while Steve completed his seminary education. After his graduation, in 2005, God called them to Christian Fellowship Church in East Brunswick, NJ. After their first child was born, in 2004, she became a full-time wife and mom. They now have 9 children. She has been homeschooling their children for over 13 years. They had their first graduate in 2022!

Fun Fact: Esther played basketball in high school. During her junior year, their team was undefeated!

Lydia Ortiz

Lydia Ortiz

Lydia was born and raised in New York City where she grew up and still lives. She is the oldest of three siblings. Lydia earned an Associate’s degree in Social Science and Humanities from LaGuardia Community College, and subsequently, a Bachelor's degree in

Psychology from Hunter College. She currently works at a Christian school as a support staff. She did not grow up in a Christian household, in fact, she grew up in a nominal catholic household, but the Lord graciously removed the veil from her eyes and saved her in 2011, where she was confronted by God’s supremacy and her own sinfulness. Lydia enjoys reading, hiking, and deep theological conversations. She is a member of First Baptist Church of New York City and serves in the evangelism and hospitality ministry.

William Torres

Will Photo.jpg

William was born and raised in north New Jersey. He grew up in a nominal Catholic household, however, he was brought to know Christ as his only, sufficient Savior two years ago, at the age of 18 in his senior year of High School. He now works as a machine operator at VitaQuest, a

nutraceutical manufacturing company. God, in His kindness, led him to Chapel on the Hill early in his walk, a humble church with men and women who love the Lord and a pastor with a shepherd’s heart, where he is committed to serving, fellowship, worship, and being held accountable.

Fun Fact: William genuinely loves to go driving or hiking somewhere he has never been, getting lost, and finding his way back home in a different way than he came without using GPS; maybe a map, and a lot of times using a compass.

Mike Engelsgjerd

Mike Engelsgjerd

Mike’s childhood was one of suitcases and road atlases. He lived in 13 different houses in 6 different states by the time he was 13 years old. In between moving houses, Mike and his family held yearly summer excursions that led them back and forth across the country

visiting grandparents, family camps, and the many varied scenic landscapes of America. It was at one of the summer family camps when Mike was 10 that he surrendered his life to Christ. Mike joined the Army after high school, where he served for the next 15 years as an Infantryman and deployed multiple times in support of the Global War on Terror. While he served, he also completed his B.S. degree in Political Science and Government online through Ashford University. Toward the end of his enlistment, Mike felt a growing desire to serve God in full-time vocational ministry. Believing that this still included military service, Mike transferred to the Army Reserves where he currently serves as a Chaplain Candidate. In addition to this on-the-job training, Mike is currently finishing his Master of Divinity degree at The Master’s Seminary and works as a pastoral intern at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, CA.

Fun Fact: The traveling bug continues to influence Mike’s spare time. He has traveled to Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Turkey, Greece, Germany, Austria, and all except 3 U.S. States. His great claim to fame is that he has sung at several of the ancient Greco-Roman theaters in Turkey and Greece, where he was applauded by no less than three of his friends who definitely enjoyed it and definitely were not waiting impatiently for him to finish so they could return to the air-conditioned tour bus.

Jasper Orcino

Jasper Orcino

Jasper grew up and spent most of his life in Central Jersey. He completed his undergraduate degree at Rutgers University. During that time, the Lord graciously worked in his heart to convict him that I was a sinner deserving of God’s wrath but by grace have been saved

through faith in Jesus Christ not by works (Ephesians 2:8-9). He recently went to graduate school for physical therapy at Stockton University and now works as a physical therapist. He is currently a member of Christian Fellowship Church in East Brunswick, NJ.

Fun Fact: Jasper can quote the entire movie of Nacho Libre.
